“ApproprIAtion Métropolitaine” : AI program for municipalities

Considering today’s global and local challenges related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Greater Paris Metropolis is preparing and supporting the metropolitan area to ensure the responsible deployment of this new technology from both societal and environmental perspectives, by facilitating its adoption by and for the stakeholders within its territory.

Thus, the Greater Paris Metropolis has adopted a Strategy for the deployment of sustainable and ethical AI solutions to support metropolitan public policies for the 2025–2027 period.

The goal is to encourage municipalities and, more broadly, all territorial stakeholders to benefit from the potential efficiency and productivity gains for public action offered by this new technology, while preparing them to address the environmental, ethical, and social challenges it entails.

The “ApproprIAtion Metropolitaine” program, an integral part of this strategy, is a training and experimentation program focused on AI solutions for public policies

It aims to accelerate the use and adoption of AI solutions by public agents within the metropolitan area. The program is structured around rolling calls for applications on thematic topics that reflect territorial challenges where AI could provide concrete solutions. It consists of three phases :

• Training
   The Metropolis will organize thematic training sessions for staff from the Metropolis and its municipalities. These sessions will help participants understand AI-related issues and identify use cases to be tested in their local areas.
• Experimentation of AI solutions
  The Metropolis will test AI solutions based on the use cases identified during the training sessions. A group of municipalities will be selected to carry out these experiments, with the Metropolis covering the funding and recruitment of solution providers. Selected municipalities will receive methodological support to ensure implementation and analysis of results
• Metropolitan-scale deployment
  If the experiments are successful, the Metropolis will scale up the deployment so that as many municipalities as possible can adopt the solutions. Municipalities may also choose to replicate the tested solutions independently, potentially with support from the Innovating in the City Fund, or by joining a broader experimentation initiative through the Metropolitan Innovation Districts, subject to eligibility.

Application process

This free program is open to municipalities within the Greater Paris Metropolis.

It offers participants the opportunity to explore artificial intelligence through various action : 

• Train elected officials and municipal staff, and receive technical support to build your AI projects
• Discover available AI solutions tailored to your municipality’s needs
• Test AI solutions that address your local challenges — the Metropolis can fund up to 50% of your project
• Replicate AI solutions implemented by other municipalities — again, with up to 50% funding
• Participate for free in a large-scale AI experiment led by the Greater Paris Metropolis

How participate?

New training tracks are published on a rolling basis on the Metropolis website, with application deadlines announced. Share your needs, areas of interest, and ideas for using AI in support of metropolitan public policies to help define the next AI tracks to be launched.

  Ce parcours offre l’opportunité de maximiser l’attractivité de vos centres-villes à partir de solutions IA permettant d’analyser les fréquentations des centres villes, d’en modéliser les implantations commerciales, de comprendre les comportements d’achat des citoyens ou encore d’évaluer l’impact de vos politiques locales. 

Calendrier prévisionnel

• Sessions de formation : 26 et 27 Janvier 2026 
• Début de l’expérimentation : septembre 2026

Ce parcours vous permet d’avoir accès à une plateforme qui facilitera le réemploi de matériaux en automatisant la mise en relation entre offreurs et demandeurs, en anticipant les besoins à partir des chantiers passés, ou en simplifiant la mise en visibilité des gisements via reconnaissance vocale ou visuelle.  Plus d’informations dans le formulaire de candidature.
